Corporate Tax Partner Clair Dart was a guest presenter on a recent webinar hosted by Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce
On 17 October Clair Dart, one of our corporate tax partners, presented to members of the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce covering a huge amount of information on the UK R&D tax credits scheme and similar innovative and incentive reliefs.
During the informative webinar hosted by the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce Clair covered the scheme in general, the new merged R&D scheme, the R&D intensive scheme and looking at the changes over recent years in respect of the reliefs available. There were some case studies on the new R&D intensive scheme that show how valuable that relief can be, but something which seems to be often overlooked.
Clair also looked into the detail of Patent Box, a hugely underutilised tax relief incentive which is becoming more attractive to innovating businesses as R&D tax credits are under more scrutiny from HM Revenue and Customs and also now that the main rate of corporation tax has increased.
As part of the presentation Clair also touched on some of the other innovation reliefs available including Film Tax Credits and Video Games Expenditure Credit.
Finally, she concluded with a refresher of the valuable capital allowances tax reliefs which can be claimed with some practical applications.
The session was recorded by the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce and is available on their You Tube channel here should you wish to watch the webinar for more information.
