Cannes, it’s good to be back

Cannes 'in-real-life' is finally happening

19 May 2022

Two years after I wrote my first blog for Alliotts Media team – on whether Cannes online was a success at the height of lockdown 2020 – I finally made it to the real thing.

The 75th Cannes film festival has begun – and you can feel two years of pent-up excitement in the air.

Alliotts Media Team, that’s me, Samuel Ampah, David Gibbs and Ian Gibbon, arrived here last night and we haven’t stopped since. We’ve been reconnecting with old friends (clients and other professional advisors) and meeting some for the very first time after two years of virtual meetings over Zoom.

This Festival started with a bang – quite literally! Tom Cruise hit town, accompanied by two deafening jet planes, for the premiere of the much-anticipated Top Gun reboot. Tom was last here exactly 30 years ago on 18 May 1992 to premier ‘Far and Away’.

Tom wasn’t able to meet up with us last night, but we hope he won’t be too disappointed!

The team is based at the American Pavilion all week, with a packed schedule of meetings, talks, screenings and events. Everyone seems thrilled to be back at Cannes and we’ve been hearing about some very exciting new projects.
