As part of the Accounts team, you will assist with providing various accounting services to a range of clients on a day to day basis, including preparing statutory accounts and management accounts.  The role will also involve assisting with bespoke advisory projects for clients.

Alliotts is a dynamic multi-disciplinary accountancy and business advisory practice operating from offices in London and Guildford, Surrey.  The Firm comprises 12 Partners who have the breadth of experience and the acumen to enable the Firm to quickly get to the heart of client matters and build a thorough understanding of the issues.  This role is based in the Guildford office.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of financial accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, groups, charities and academies.
  • Preparing year end working paper files and assisting auditors.
  • Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts including posting journals of accruals, prepayments, depreciation and payroll. Preparation of control reconciliations and analytical review schedules.
  • Maintenance of client’s accounting records and reconciliations including bookkeeping, processing of client data and dealing with queries.
  • Preparation of VAT returns.
  • Working at clients’ premises on their computer systems, liaising with the bookkeeper/director to prepare accounts and discuss results.
  • Assisting with the training and supervision of junior members of staff.

Other duties and tasks:

  • Attendance at the other Alliotts office in London as required.
  • Respond to and deal with general client queries, passing on to appropriate person for resolution where necessary.
  • Maintain a keen interest in business development by promoting Alliotts as a Firm and seeking new clients, as appropriate.

Work with Partners and staff to provide a personal, professional service for the benefit of both clients and the Firm.

Ideal candidates would have:

  • 5 GCSEs grade C or equivalent, and above.
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or currently sitting advanced/final exams.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Good level of knowledge of accounting standards is essential.
  • Experience of working on consolidated and Charities’ accounts desirable.
  • Experience of CCH Accounts Production and Xero Software is desirable.
  • Good IT knowledge and skills, particularly Excel.
  • Ideally able to drive with own vehicle, due to client locations.

  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate work.
  • Demonstrates good self-motivation and uses initiative appropriately to resolve problems.
  • Keen to learn and develop – demonstrates understanding of own profession and keeps abreast of relevant developments.
  • Able to work flexibly with willingness to travel to client sites and the Firm’s other office in London.
