The Business Services team works closely with venture capital (VC) backed start-ups and growing owner-managed businesses, providing a comprehensive range of outsourced financial services, including bookkeeping, management accounting, payroll, and financial reporting. These clients operate in fast-paced, rapidly evolving sectors, requiring the team to be agile, forward-thinking, and proactive in delivering solutions that drive growth and efficiency.
The Business Services Manager will lead a talented team of professionals dedicated to supporting these dynamic businesses through their critical growth phases. This role will involve frequent collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships with clients and ensuring that all outsourced services align with their strategic objectives. The main purpose of the role is to lead, manage and optimise a portfolio of clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective services, and supervise and assist with the training of new and existing members of staff.
The Business Services Manager will have day-to-day responsibility for the portfolio of clients dealt with by the department as well as the team members within it, reporting directly to the partners.
They will be empowered to act with autonomy subject to prior partner review and approval of work assignments and will be responsible for forming and maintaining strong client relationships.
The Business Services Manager will be responsible for junior staff and contractors as and when appropriate. They will be expected to assist colleagues and juniors with technical queries.
The Post holder is responsible for selecting work for the junior staff and briefing them on how to perform that work. The Manager will be expected to delegate routine work to the juniors and to review that work when it is completed.
Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Management Accounts and Board Reports
- Implementing Cloud Accounting Packages
- Innovation and Improvement of Systems and Software
- VAT Returns
- Management of Team
- Training and Development
- Statutory Accounts
Ideal candidates would have:
- Qualified ACA or ACCA
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in practice.
- At least 1 years’ experience of managing team members and clients.
- Strong IT skills including advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Experience of cloud accounting packages e.g. Xero, QuickBooks
- Curiosity and interest in accounting technology
- Wide range of sector experience
