Clair works with our not for profit teams across the offices to provide taxation support for charities in respect of areas of income that fall to be taxable and in respect of tax planning for the charity so as to mitigate any tax loss that can be avoided. Clair provides our clients with support for their EIS and SEIS certification throughout the process in respect of the taxation relief available and the advance assurance process. R&D Tax Relief
Clair provides clients across the firm with advice and assistance in respect of R&D tax credits claims and oversees a team of specialists providing R&D tax relief services. This is an area of tax law that has seen a lot of change over the last couple of years and clients have needed careful guidance to ensure compliance and maximising their claim returns.
Clair helps clients to ensure their claims are robust, well-structured and demonstrate all the required criteria for eligibility. As HMRC have increased the number of enquiries in this area recently to target fraud Clair also helps clients defend the legitimacy of their claims.
Clair and her partner Gary became parents to Patrick in 2021, so time is at a premium. A lively household with two energetic spaniels they enjoy taking long walks together. Self confessed petrolhead Clair, (a Land Rover enthusiast), is rather handy with a spanner. Clair also enjoys DIY and gardening, and more sedatory reading, films, painting and challenging puzzles.
